This should have been the filter you were looking for. This fits perfectly with the 5000 series lineup. This cartridge actually fits better in the air cleaner housing than just using a (standard) cardboard framed filter and separate carbon pre-filter pad. This cassette has a rubber pad on the outside of the cassette which seals it within the base housing motor block and provides a tight seal. Feed all the air directly to the filter. This cassette allows you to remove the HEPA filter located between the (front) pre-filter and the (rear) activated carbon filter element. This allows the larger particles in the pre-filter to be flushed away, which would normally clog the HEPA filter. Monthly cleaning of the pre-filter greatly improves the efficiency of the HEPA filter and the airflow capacity of the unit, extending the life of the motor. Dirty pre-filters significantly reduce air filtration efficiency by reducing the cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air drawn into the enclosure and through the HEPA filter. It also allows your HEPA to work better and last longer. The problem is that after the life of the HEPA filter (about 1 year with the service described above in a typical non-smoking and pet-free home) there is no easy replacement for HEPA. Filter that fits into the cassette. I have to buy a new cassette. An expensive deal compared to the standard $22 HEPA filter they sell for the unit without the cartridge. Please note that this $22 filter does not fit or replace the HEPA filter in this $75 cartridge. To date, there is no replacement filter for the $75 device. Your choice?1. You can buy this cartridge, wash out the pre-filters for a year, and then replace the unit. = $75 per year2. Buy washable HEPA filters with disposable pre-filters = $35 / 2 years. Pre-filters last 3 months each and 6x washable HEPA filters (every 4 months). Corporate greed sucks.
