Review on KLMEi Architecture Building Creative Hobbyists by Garrett Craven

These aren't standard brick building blocks

For some reason, they appear to be similar to the "architectural" four-letter version of your favorite brand's brick building blocks. But I have no idea if that's true or not. One thing to be aware of is that they are much, much smaller than your regular plastic stone and are absolutely NOT interchangeable. This set is a really detailed, very beautiful version of the Norte Dame Cathedral. It would be nice if it had stained glass windows but they don't. The fully assembled product is approximately 16-20 inches long and just over 1 foot tall. The details range from small to ridiculous. There are a few things in this set that almost drove me crazy. One of them is that the items come in rather randomly sorted packages. If that makes any sense, it escaped me, kid #1, and my significant other. Secondly, fitting these tiny parts together often causes pain unless you use a tiny part separator to get a good print surface. You have to be careful doing this or you'll be about to burst the piece again. The third thing that got me distracted is that there are 3 shades of gray and black. But the guide does a TERRIBLE job of distinguishing them. We often had to look at the box and end up guessing which pieces were which. If you're a perfectionist (like the three of us) it can help to collect 30-40 small baskets or bags and sort them at each step to avoid confusion. Finally, be careful with bags of pieces. Two holes (the size of holes in notebook paper) are punched in each pocket for no apparent reason. This can cause many small parts to fall out. Once they run out, they can easily be lost forever. Just a warning. But if you get it right, you'll end up with an architectural piece that you'll be proud to display in your living room. (You and your family might hate each other, but it's the same as Risk or Monopoly, right? Right?)
