Review on Sony CMT-SBT100 Music Center by Kenji Viray Tsuchida ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good value for money, I recommend it.

I was looking for a boombox, but I bought an SBT100, this system, in my opinion, sounds better than other music centers (for comparable money). But, the FM radio reception of the SBT100 (in my conditions) is no better (even worse) than that of the old LG SB-74, alas. If the wiring-antenna is positioned so that some stations sound clear, then other stations begin to wheeze harshly. Pulling the wires and changing its location in space each time depending on the chosen station was not included in the plans, despite the fact that it was the radio that was a priority in this purchase and this radio was for the kitchen and the antenna should live behind the cabinet and it was desirable to talk about it in general forget. As a result, I got rid of the SBT100 with a capricious radio. Impressions are as follows: Most of all I liked the sound of this system when using AUX from a good source, but BT (aptX) and a flash drive are also very good. they played well, I liked the sound of the CD less (this "feature" was already mentioned in the reviews here). To the same external source to which I connected Sony as a quality. active acoustics, I also connected Microlab Solo1 (mk3) for comparison and I must say that Sony lost a lot. Against the "adult" sound of the Solo1, Sony sounded light and rustic. Actually, this is not a reproach to Sony - there is always something better, and Solo1mk3 are excellent speakers (with terribly inconvenient controls) that are not easy to beat. In domestic use, the Sony is undoubtedly much more convenient than the Solo in all respects, and I would continue to listen to the SBT100 in my kitchen if Sony's FM radio reception was stable. Did not work out. Surprisingly, in my conditions, the best FM reception for some reason provides Pts. small player Sony NWZ-A15. Music centers, who are more who are less - everyone wheezes.

Pros
  • It definitely sounds better than all the boomboxes currently available in comparable money. Excellent communication via BT (aptX), well-read display.
Cons
  • Leisurely. Pretty mediocre FM reception, rustic sound of the onboard CD player, "proprietary" speaker terminals. Only one AUX input.

I wanted a music center in a classic design and with good sound, Sony did not disappoint!
