Seriously disappointed

I had a very good tape measure that I used for a long time and one day I accidentally put it on my saw (it was spectacular but scary). So I sat down and looked for a replacement. I read reviews, settled on this model and decided to stick with it. I didn't have the blocking method I'm used to, but I liked how the tape read and how it felt in my hand. And then. I put it in my tool bag, went to the shop to work on the project, and not twice. Something fell out of him. Just some plastic. Fell to the ground. At first I just picked it up (so as not to leave debris on the floor) thinking it might be something that fell in or was picked up when I grabbed the tape measure. Then, to my shock, I go to the tape measure and the tape measure stops working. I look around, I have a cocking finger in my pocket. Something broke and fell out. I needed a tape measure for my projects so it was useless to me. Also, I was so disgusted that it broke so quickly that I threw it in my tool bag and didn't touch it until a few days later. I opened it up to see, and sure enough, the finger broke clean. The tape measure case, tape etc are intact but the plastic of the roll pin/slider was quite brittle. No repair. I could have glued it on but wasn't sure it wouldn't break again as it was broken and needed force. Now I'm sure it was probably an accident or something, but to be honest when I see how weak he is and think it's just a matter of time, I won't write it off anytime soon. The rest of the tape measure is solid and sturdy, and yet that's it. So. This time the crescent moon disappointed me. I'm not a contractor or anything, but I need my tape measure to function and be reliable. accidentally cut. This is a 25' Craftsman tape measure (CMHT37365S).
