This turned out to be a great little GPS. I bought one to replace my old Garmin road pilot that was performing. I liked it and it was so cheap I bought a second one for my wife's car. A great product for less than a hundred euros. At first I thought I'd skip the GPS altogether and just rely on my phone, but I'm glad I got it. It's very easy to use, still gets a good signal, very accurate. So why not 5 stars? A few points: 1) There is no kit for mounting on the dash. Just a suction cup to attach it to the windshield. I don't care, also I'm not sure if it's legal in California. I have a beanie kit from my previous Garmin but was disappointed that this unit didn't fit. I would buy a new hat for that. This annoyed me a little, it would be nice if they kept the bindings the same size as people who had earlier attachments. I ended up putting the GPS in a sunglass holder behind the shifter. It fits well there and still gets a good signal. 2) The map update process is a process. You have to install the update software, you register the device, it boots, installs, reboots etc. Mine ran fine but took a good 30 minutes. I hate installing software on my computer because you never know how it will interact with your system, what information it collects, etc. But the update went well, so it's not a huge downside, but I'd like to mention it. 3) No instructions or documentation. The device is easy to use after you play with it, but I'd like at least a little cheat sheet. I had to go online and look for directions. When I received the manual, I learned about some of its features that I never expected. These are small imperfections and that probably helps them keep the price down so I really can't complain too much. This is an excellent device, it gets a good signal and is accurate. UPDATED ONE YEAR LATER - NO LONGER WORKING. The GPS was working great until I made the mistake of updating my maps. My device is now a paperweight. DO NOT attempt to update your maps, it's not worth the risk. What mistake. I get a pop-up message on my computer that map updates are available. The device worked fine but I thought it would be a good idea to update it. I connected the GPS and it says you don't have enough memory to update maps so I need to get an SD card. hmm a pity. Ok I went and got the SD card, put it in the GPS and tried again. This time the installation started. It was set to about 10% and an error was displayed saying the device could not be contacted. I tried 3 more times and the same error and at the point I said forget it I'll just stick with the old maps. Not so fast, buddy. I noticed that there are no maps on my device! NOBODY. I've been trying for 2 hours and the same. GPS seems to go to sleep, the screen goes black and the installation fails. Now I have a paperweight. I hope Garmin Support can help. I'm upset because it was an unforced error. I should have just left it alone.
