I bought this timer to replace the same one I had for many years and eventually wore out (I even took the old one apart to fix it ). , as it was easy to disassemble, and thought cleaning it would rejuvenate it. a company that simply MUST change for the sake of change must have prevailed, leading to great difficulty in readability of the controls. I took two photos of the timer, one with sculpted text showing the button's function and the light bouncing off them. for readability, and the second shows what it looks like right now - with button text practically invisible (the angle from which it's viewed when in use). My old one was light gray with buttons that were sharp and easy to read. The newer version has black buttons with barely legible text. This is a seriously idiotic design change. Since the shapes and sizes of the buttons haven't changed, I won't have a problem setting the timer or turning it off. New users have to get used to the layout of the buttons and eventually remember which button does what. In terms of functionality, there are no obvious changes from the previous design, which was excellent. This works very well. Now it's just ridiculously hard to read the keys.
