I've recently moved and didn't want to spend morning money on new cabinets and this product has really come in handy. See my before and after photos. Tips: 1) Don't let the color of the marker caps guide you. They do not match the actual color of the ink. Try 2 or 3 different shades and see which one comes closest to the color of your furniture. In my case, the mahogany marker cap is the same color as my cabinets, but the color that actually goes with it is cherry. 2) Don't worry about colored pencils unless you need to fill in deep gaps or scratches. Just use markers and don't draw a straight line, just make small dots with the sharper edge of the marker. It will look more natural this way. Be patient and do one part at a time. 3) Keep a slightly damp paper towel next to you and wipe off the excess after you've painted anything, as you only want to fill in the damaged area and not paint the good part of the wood. The untreated part of the wood (the damaged part) absorbs the paint very quickly, so your goal is to wipe the ink off the undamaged parts.
