Review on Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 10-Inch High-Carbon Serrated Bread Knife by Danielle Davis

Revainrating 2 out of 5

You get what you pay for

This is a heavy blade and looks well made. However, the teeth cut through bread like a chainsaw, flinging out all sorts of crumbs with each hit. Cutting a slice doesn't work smoothly and effortlessly. I have a Cutco serrated knife that's too short for slicing bread, but I still prefer this knife because it's smooth, light weight, and doesn't leave crumbs when sawing. I suppose it's not a bad knife for the price, but you really do get what you pay for. I keep buying these cheap knives because I don't think it's that hard to make a knife that works as cheaply as a Cutco, but I think I've finally learned my lesson. Yes, a similar Cutco knife costs 5x more than this one, but I think it's safe to say it's 5x better and will last a lifetime.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
