Terrible product, not satisfied with the purchase!

I purchased this particular model approximately a month ago. I instantly removed practically everything from the primary computer as well as the laptop and transferred it to a fresh drive. Everything is replicated quickly enough, and the process is completely silent. But the disc ceased operating after three weeks had passed! I am successfully connected, but there is no response (even if the indicator light is on). And despite my attempts to connect to a variety of computers running a variety of operating systems, I got the same response. I made the decision to get in touch with the WD support service (support.wdc.com), but I quickly discovered that nothing was very straightforward there, either. It is impossible to locate a service that is covered by the warranty. Sending them a drive that is unable to work will allow you to get a replacement drive under the terms of the warranty. This choice, however, is not an option that may be explored because there is data on the drive that is highly precious and needs to be retrieved. There is a link labeled "data recovery" on the support page of the website; however, the sole company listed for the year 2022 is located in Hong Kong, and the website for that company does not mention working with Western Digital in any way. A request sent to their assistance via e-mail has gone unanswered for the past week. As a consequence of this, it has come to light that purchasing this disc puts you at risk of receiving a product of poor quality as well as inadequate customer service. Consider whether or not you truly require it. Already, I'm beginning to believe that it was essential to seize Seagate.

Pros
  • Simple to set up, and everything needed is provided. Attractive design
Cons
  • Unreliability! Actually, it's 931 gigabytes, not 1 terabyte
