I bought a dual color/black cartridge a few months ago. I don't use this HP office color inkjet printer very often, mostly my Brother black and white laser printer. But from time to time I need colour, so I decided to try a Valuetoner remanufactured ink cartridge to replace the HP 901XL (black + tri-colour). So far I'm very happy with the print. I tried to print a color page and got an error message saying the black cartridge is not compatible with my printer! THE? I've used it before and it worked! I have tried everything including removing and reinstalling the black cartridge. Still does not work! Finally I just took out the black cartridge and with that I was able to print without black, I just printed in color and it worked! I don't know how long I can do this. just thankful I did the much needed full color print! But what now? As long as it prints in color you're fine, but I wasted my money on a black cartridge! And I'm not sure if my printer suddenly needs a black cartridge to work. I'm not sure I'll try another remanufactured cartridge!
