Review on πŸ“ Dahle 00133-21281: Top-Rated 133 Pencil Sharpener with Auto Cutting System, Adjustable Point - Ideal for Standard & Oversized Pencils by Kelly Caballes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Overpriced bullshit, Dahle used to be German precision, now it's Chinese junk.

Stay away, overpriced junk. The auto stop feature doesn't work, it just breaks the tip and eats the pencil. I bought these for my colored pencils and artist charcoal as the fragile core in them won't work with the auto stop in my Carl sharpeners (CP-80 and Angel-5 Premium) and oversized pencils that don't fit in my Carl. but decided to test it with Crayola and HB/#2 crayons. Hitchhiking Carl works with Crayola and graphite pencils, but Dahle doesn't work, the tip keeps breaking off. I suspect this is because the entire sharpening mechanism, with the exception of the blade and blade axis pin, is plastic and the parts do not fit tightly together. The Autostopper is a threaded plastic rod that fits freely in the center of the handle, it may wobble in use and break the tip of the pencil. The blade itself sharpens cleanly, but to use it one has to gauge how far out one has to pull out the clip to fully sharpen any type of pencil. With Carl I only have to do it with charcoal or soft colored pencils. not in the middle, moreover it costs more than the almost all-metal Japanese Carl Angel-5 Premium, I returned it. I'll come back to carefully sharpening fragile core pencils with Carl and sharpening large pencils with a knife or hand sharpener.
