Review on Hamilton Beach 40792: Experience Espresso Excellence – Latte, Cappuccino, and Milk Frother, 15 Bar Italian Pump, Single Cup Brewer in Black & Stainless by George Robinson

For years I have used Krupps, earlier Hamilton Beach models and for the last ten years I have stayed with Delonghi, although the pumps were weak and failed after about 18 months. I read the reviews on this device and decided to give it a try after my Delonghi pump broke. It makes an excellent cup of espresso! Extraction is great. A rich crema every time thanks to the superior design of the espresso filter and espresso filter holder. The unique espresso filter holder clip demonstrates Hamilton Beach's thoughtful approach to not only making the best cup of espresso at this price point, but also making it consumer-friendly. There's only one problem. After the first use I poured out the ground espresso, rinsed the espresso filter and filter holder and put it on the dryer. The next morning I noticed that the inside of the espresso filter holder was oxidized. Numerous powdery aluminum deposits were visible. I contacted support and informed them about my problem. They immediately sent a replacement filter holder and after one use the same oxidation appeared and the same powdery aluminum deposits were present. There seems to be some kind of coating on the outside of the filter holder, but for some reason it doesn't reach the inside. Until Hamilton Beach fixes this espresso filter holder issue, I strongly suggest you ditch this otherwise excellent espresso maker. Powdered oxidized aluminum is probably not good to drink.
