Review on 🏔️ Mountain House Biscuits & Gravy: Premium Freeze-Dried Camping Food for Backpacking, Survival, and Emergencies by Troy Hamilton

Not tasty, but edible for emergencies

Made in the USA, I don't like this Mountain House Cookie and Gravy. I wanted to like it but I just can't. I'm very familiar with freeze dried foods and use them all the time in cooking, both for convenience and to ensure I know how to actually use them in an emergency. I find them quite tasty and have had meals for lunch where people have been very complimentary and even asked for the recipe, not knowing the dish contained freeze dried food. (Не путайте сублимированные продукты с обезвоженными продуктами. Они совершенно разные почти во всех отношениях.) Нет ничего хуже, чем иметь кучу продуктов, которые вы не можете использовать должным образом, а затем в конечном итоге у вас возникают проблемы с желудком именно тогда, когда you need. in your power to deal with an emergency. Mountain House is one of the brands I'm familiar with, they are pre-packaged meals that are ready to eat, convenient and usually contain the calories you need on a hike or for extra energy in an emergency. They changed their packaging to reflect a retro feel and Bigfoot even appeared on the bottom of the bag to bring some lightness. The best date is October 2051, which is almost 30 years at the moment. This new pack contains 3 servings instead of 2 and the same serving size as before. I have found that 1 cup is enough for me and I am quite full. Like I said, it packs a whopping 300 calories, 11g saturated fat, and 980mg sodium. This is by no means a healthy meal, but calories and fat are definitely needed in stressful situations. This packet has enough servings for me for a whole day and the packet can be terracycled. While it states that this package contains bioengineered food ingredients, it does not say what those ingredients are. First, let me say that B&G is probably one of the hardest products to reach. I noticed this one. I opened the bag, poured 2 1/4 cups of boiling water into the bag, stirred, closed the bag for 5 minutes, stirred, resealed and waited until 4 minutes was up because I was in the middle of something, ie the second time it was more like 6-8 minutes. The cookies were slimy and not very tasty as they didn't take on the flavor of the sausage. The sausage chunks were the size and texture of erasers—seriously. The taste was like a very tender sausage. I'm really not sure what can help here. I usually carry some pepper, garlic, and tabasco with me to add flavor to prepackaged foods, but I'm not sure any of these will help. Maybe some pepper. I think it was the eraser slime that got me. All of this to say I can eat this in an emergency, but it won't be my first choice for packing a BOB or other emergency or camping essentials. I would turn it down, which makes me unhappy because I really like B&G for comfort food. Since this is not an emergency, I will not finish this bag. That's why it's good to try before you really get into that emergency. I can't recommend it as a first choice.
