Review on πŸ”§ Topeak Universal Chain Tool, Silver (3.3 x 1.7 x 0.6-Inch): Enhanced SEO-friendly Product Title by Alex Taylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exactly what I needed!

I needed a good tool to break down some chains into dozens of little links for a robotics project. After playing around with one of the cheap $5 big box tools for about 15 minutes, I realized that there HAS to be something better. That was it. Solid construction, good leverage, and a push pin that actually stays in line with the chain pin as you turn the crank. I've lost count of how many links I've removed to this point (can't wait to start rebuilding! *sigh*) and the tool survived every second of use. It's probably been used "normally" for almost a lifetime, and if I break it or wear it out, I'm happy to buy another one and move on. Definitely happy with the quality! (4/10/2014 edited to add) - I've now used this tool to split almost 1000 individual links, which is a lot less fun than it sounds. :) It's starting to wear out a bit, but still works very well. For something that is most likely *not* designed for this amount of constant (ab)use, I'd say it's absolutely durable enough to withstand anything a more normal person might throw at it. I hereby give this tool an honorable 6th star for its flawless performance under appalling working conditions.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
