I have an existing Netgear R7000 802.11ac dual band router and bought this media bridge to connect my entertainment system to my network without CAT5 need to run or CAT6 cable. I based my purchase on the most positive reviews and I have to say I am very disappointed. Here are some of the problems I found: 1. I couldn't read the fine print on the Trendnet website that this device uses either 2.4G or 5G, but not both. WPS was not able to automatically pair the router and media bridge together, which could be a Netgear or Trendnet bug, and I had to manually add a security key to the router before it would accept the new bridge.3. The default connection is 2.4G. If the new standard pushes 5G for higher connection speeds and transmission distances, wouldn't it be better to make 5G the default frequency?4. The administrative web interface is a joke. It's like a ready-made WiFi for Dummies on downer. Manual device configuration is minimal at best, and there are no presets unless you want to export the configuration, make changes in a text file editor, and then import the updated configuration. Even if you go so far as to make advanced configuration changes, the configuration file is unreadable and there is NO documentation for advanced settings, either on Trendnet or anywhere else on the web. And to make matters worse, I can't connect 5G to my router. The bridge sees the SSID but cannot connect. I read another review where one person stated that their router worked better when connected to Link 44 from their router. I tried this but still couldn't connect to 5G. With no preview in the admin web interface, who knows which channel the media bridge is using.6. On the 2.4G side, the connection was strong and seemed responsive, but the connection speed was about half the maximum 300Mbps (the R7000 saw the connection as 150Mbps). If I can't get a 5G connection to the router in the next day or two, I'll go back and look elsewhere for another bridge or WAP.
