Great lens for your money. Despite the fact that the lens is dark, you can take great pictures in low light even without a tripod! There was an experience of shooting landscapes during the "white nights" - very, very worthy ! For landscapes - a very good option. Not bad for a portrait with the right camera settings. Not suitable for macro photography. After the whale was sampled 50mm f/1.8D. So - in terms of sharpness, 18-105 is not inferior. I did not notice the advantages of the aperture ratio of the fix when the stub was turned on at the zoom. The difference is only in the great possibilities in creating bokeh. Disappointed with fix.

Cons
- Not enough wide angle for landscapes. It is impossible to do more or less high-quality macro. Sucks up dust. Gives strong glare in backlight.

As a first lens, it is quite suitable for beginners. Very good value for money.
