You have to find out how it works, the instructions are free. You need a magnifying glass to read the instructions, but that doesn't help, it doesn't matter if the instructions are wrong. I bought this to test the Compacitor, it should have taken 1 minute to test it. It took me about 1 hour to figure out how to test it because the instructions are wrong. Below is exactly what the instructions say -------------------------------------- -- - --------------------------------- ---------------- --------------------- --------------------- Capacitance measurement1. Connect the black probe to the COM port and the red one to the INPUT port.2. Set the range switch to position (here it shows the symbol).3. Press the "Selectโ€ button to select the continuity measurement mode and the "mFโ€ icon will appear as the display.4. Connect the test leads to the capacitor to be measured, paying attention to the correct polarity of the connection. ---- ---- -------------------------------------- ---- ---- -------------------------------------- ---- ---- In fact, "mF" will never appear if you follow the instructions. Here's what happens when you follow the instructions.1. Connect the black probe to the COM port and the red one to the INPUT port.2. Set the range switch to position (here it shows the symbol).3. Press the select button once and the continuity symbol will appear, press the select button again and the diode symbol will appear, press the select button again and "nFโ€ will appear. ("nFโ€ NOT "mFโ€) Press the "Selectโ€ button again and you will return to the beginning. The "mF" symbol will never appear if you follow the directions in the IFU, even if you read them under a microscope. Below is how it should be spelled because it really is. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- Capacitance measurement1. Connect the black probe to the COM port and the red one to the INPUT port.2. Set the range switch to position (here it shows the symbol).3. Press the "Select" button three times until the symbol "nF" appears in the lower right corner of the screen.4. Connect the test leads to the capacitor to be measured, and "nF" will change to "mF", be sure to note the polarity of the connection. --------- ------------------------------------------------------- --------- ------ ----------------------------------- ---------- ------ ---------- The specifications for this tester as posted on Revain state that it is powered by the 3 required lithium metal batteries . (included) The product description also states: Power supply: 3 x 1.5 V, AAA batteries included. Both of these statements are true, but in the FAQ, the customer asked this question (copied from the answer section). Which lithium batteries are used? Obviously I thought this was a silly question as the description on Revain clearly shows the answer. It turns out that the answer is much worse than the question. Below is the question and answer ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Question: What type of lithium batteries are used in this? Answer: Hi buyers, thanks for your concern, there is a 9V battery in the meter AstroAI Customer Service see lessBy AstroAI Corporation SELLER January 22, 2019 are the same idiots who provided the instructions. I gave this 2 stars because I could test my brand. w and never used a capacitor and I knew what the tester was supposed to read. The tester was very fast and accurate for testing capacitors. I don't want to test anything else with it because I don't have time to figure out how to run each test. Unless I have a precisely written instruction manual in English that doesn't require binoculars to read, this multimeter will be sent back to Revain very soon.
