Review on TNP IR Infrared Remote Control Extender Repeater Cable (8.2 Feet) - USB Powered System Kit for Enhanced IR Signal Receiver & IR Emitter Blaster Extension by Ray Cole

It works, there are no instructions and everything is on one cable, so no two-room solutions.

Good thing: Works well with my receiver and dish controller. It's easy to install once you figure out how it works as there were no instructions. You get a USB cable with a transmitter box (small box) which I put in front of my dish receiver and on the other end is an IR receiver (large box) which after turning the flat side against the wall, had worked. There's a USB port for power about 6 inches from the small box. The device is only suitable for working in one room, since it is a single cable. The bad thing is that the USB power plug is only 6 inches from the transmitter, so it doesn't enclose the TV receiver in any way from my dish receiver's USB port. It needs to be at least 2 feet away to bypass the TV receiver as my USB was only on the back. So you need a USB port and I had to get an extension cord to make it work. There are no instructions. general. No tape to secure sender or receiver. It's all on one wire, so I now have a black wire sticking out of my parabolic receiver storage box.

Pros
  • USB powered IR extender with integrated 6ft Y-cable for 5V USB power; Connects to HDTV USB port or USB wall charger (sold separately)
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
