My use doesn't require weather protection, I don't even install a gasket and the first thing I did was drill some huge holes. So no comment on the weather and water resistance! The surface seems thick enough that I could fit large buttons that are enthusiastically pressed with less than an inch spacing (edge distance). We'll see how it works out in real life at some point when I've completed the project and we can get out of trouble and do in-person events again. The appearance is elegant and beautifully finished. Tool marks are visible inside, there were even some plastic swirls, but nothing serious for the unseen interior; I just wiped it down with a damp cloth. I'm glad to have found such a deep box; These large buttons occupy 2.5 inches below the plate, including wire harness connectors and wire turn radius. There's a series of round raised cylinders on the sides, looks like they're meant as a mounting base for things, you can put screws in without piercing them, they're on regular racks so they don't get in the way either. a different mounting hole spacing or something I could design myself to fit the box would be a useful feature.
