Having drunk very clean well water my entire life, I had a hard time adjusting to city water after we moved to upstate New York in May 2020. It had a very strong chlorine smell and my personal system felt out of place. When researching the effects of chlorine internally, I found that it kills the good bacteria in your digestive tract. We haven't felt even a hint of chlorine since installing it. As someone who once had a remodeling business I believe I am well versed in plumbing and electrical as well as all other skills required in construction. I decided to entrust this particular project to professional plumbers for two reasons. First, I don't have an expensive crimping tool, and you'll be working with 3/4" copper. Second, I wasn't confident enough about sweating copper with so many valves and elbows so close together in the system. Of course, you have to shut off the water in your house, so I wanted it to work the first time.This system is more than enough to feed my wife and I. If you have more than three people living in your house you may want to buy a larger unit or change the filters much more frequently. The filters we use (best for chlorine) can hold up to 50,000 gallons before needing replacement, we are very satisfied.
