Purchasing electronics that improve the quality of life

My wife was skeptical about installing electronics in the kitchen, mainly because it required drilling holes in her cabinets . Let me put it this way, she has never been so in love with my e-shopping, she loves it! I hit the switch almost instinctively when I'm drinking my morning coffee. NPR has never sounded so good. The CD changer works perfectly, although we always have a CD - a daily morning prayer that plays at dawn. We restrict television consumption and let this block inform us. I would highly recommend this to any household as the kitchen is where family gathers and listening to intellectually stimulating conversation and music is essential for everyone. The IPOD connection works as expected and the sound quality and radio reception are quite good. I have a high end AV system with custom speakers so there is no comparison here but this part more than does the job. It's become a talking point when guests arrive, and some have even purchased the same device for their homes. The orange backlit LCD display may seem unfamiliar at first glance, but over time it becomes irrelevant.

Pros
  • Playing standard CDs and CD-R/RWs
Cons
  • Doubt
