Not working for Carplay in my truck

I bought this to connect a new iPhone USB-C cable to the USB-A port in my Tacoma for Carplay. I don't have wifi option. Unfortunately that doesn't work. It charges the phone but there is no data connection and no Carplay. Their information says the device doesn't work with the Magsafe charger and they weren't lying. I bought an adapter from MOSWAG and it works in my Carplay truck and with a Magsafe charger.
