The Deco Gear Portable Monitor is a slim 15.6-inch foldable TOUCHSCREEN monitor (although not listed in Revain's product name) with FHD 1920 x 1080 (High Definition) resolution. Transport and connects to a wide range of electronics including smartphones, tablets, PCs, Macs and gaming systems via HDMI or Type-C. Unfortunately, the monitor doesn't work the same way with all devices, and some don't. ------------------------------------------------- UNPACKING AND FIRST IMPRESSION: Thoughtfully packaged, protects the monitor inside AC power supply two-pin with Type-C cable to connect to the adapter Network cable 4-5' long with power connector on the right side of the monitor next to it on two ports: Type-C and Mini HDMI used for connections to electronics. The kit includes two 3-inch cables: Type-C and Mini-HDMI, used to connect the monitor to devices. The monitor itself is packaged in a low-quality cloth bag and the monitor's user manual is also included. NOTE. Unlike some other portable monitors, this is not battery powered. You can't charge it and unplug it, so you can use it with an extension cord. The monitor is very attractive. It folds up and has multiple viewing angles. The viewing area is 15.6 inches and there is a thin bezel around it. The power button for the monitor is on the left, as are the volume up/down buttons, an activity indicator that glows and flashes solid blue when the monitor is on. In sleep mode. Pressing the volume buttons brings up a menu for adjusting the monitor settings. At first glance, this is a really cool portable monitor.__________________________________________ USING THE MONITOR AND THE RESULT OF DISAPPOINTMENT: I connected this monitor to my iMac, Macbook, Chromebook, PC running Windows 8 and Windows 10 and they were all recognized in one few seconds. I tried to connect an LG Android smartphone, but it was not recognized by the monitor. I also connected via HDMI to my Xbox which was recognized. When I connected this monitor (model number PM20) to my iMac, which is my everyday computer, I was hoping to use the touchscreen capabilities since I use the display as a second screen. I can do this with my 2020 iPad, but for those who don't have a newer iPad for extended display, this would be an inexpensive solution, albeit a wired one. I connected the PM20 to my iMac via Type-C and the portable monitor was immediately recognized by flipping open the display. I moved the cursor to the right side of the iMac screen and then it appeared on the Deco Gear where I was able to click and open some but not all of my apps. I could click and drag apps from the iMac screen onto the screen. PM20. I couldn't play videos on the portable screen and didn't have touchscreen capability. Using it on both an iMac and a Macbook gave the same result. Good as a second monitor for a webpage, contacts or email, but not for media, and the connection prevented me from using the monitor as a touchscreen or hearing sound from the monitor's speakers. I was disappointed that PM20 is limited with Apple products. It cannot be used with an iPhone or iPad at all and did not work properly with iMacs and Macbooks. I have a Mac Mini to try with this and will update the review in a while. Using the monitor with my Chromebook was also a mixed bag. By connecting to a Chromebook via Type-C, I was able to see two different screens using them independently most of the time. When playing YouTube on a Chromebook, I heard audio from the portable monitor, but was unable to play it from the Chromebook until I unplugged the portable monitor. I tried changing the settings on both the monitor and the Chromebook but couldn't change the audio. The 3.5mm headphone jack on the monitor worked, as did the speakers with sound, but lacked depth. When using the monitor with a Chromebook, the touchscreen function worked. When connecting this monitor to a PC running Windows 8 (in order to retain touchscreen functionality on the laptop I had to keep 8 instead of upgrading to 10) via an HDMI connection, the monitor expanded and worked as a secondary monitor, but it didn't as a touchscreen monitor. Connecting to a Dell Windows 10 PC via Type-C and HDMI was the best scenario. The touchscreen worked and I was able to use it as a secondary display. I don't know if other brands of Windows 10 PCs work the same way. When connected to my Xbox via HDMI, I was able to view the system without touchscreen capabilities and hear audio through the speakers and through the 3.5mm headphone jack. Using this monitor for gaming on the go is probably one of its best uses. LIKE AND DISLIKE: I like it.1. The monitor is super portable.2. It works well with Xbox and probably Switch.3. Works with Windows 10.4. The display weighs less than 5 pounds and is foldable. The display is beautiful with its color reproduction and clear text.6. Easily adjustable viewing angles.7. An affordable way to add a wired second display to your iMac, Mac Mini or Macbook.8. The included user manual is pretty good for basic operation and connection. What I do not like. 1. It is erroneous operation with different devices and not consistent operation with touch screen.2. It is not anti-glare and some situations may require a matte screen protector.3. No wireless connection.4. It's not exactly portable, as it requires an AC power supply to operate. There is no battery.5. When used with Apple iMac and Macbook, it doesn't have touchscreen capabilities and some applications won't open.6. You can't use it with iPhone or iPad.7. Not all Android tablets and smartphones will work with this monitor; some are not recognized.8. A carrying case for it is not adequate protection and a bag or case must be purchased for it unless it is being transported in a crate.9. Navigating the OSD menu to set parameters is cumbersome and difficult to use.10. The doubtful warranty is 1 year, but only applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable. The owner is responsible for packaging and shipping (at their own expense) the defective unit with proof of purchase, reason for return and, at Decogear's option, the unit will be repaired or replaced. The return address for the device is listed in the brochure, but there is no email address or phone number to contact.11. There is no mention of compatibility in the user manual, e.g. B. A list of electronics that work with this product.12. The user manual does not mention how to fix audio problems. --------------------------------- CONCLUSION: If you use this portable travel monitor to connect your gaming system or use it as a second display when using a Windows 10 PC, it's probably good value for money. However, if you want to use it as a full-fledged monitor without crashing with Apple products or with a Chromebook, you might be disappointed. setup to change the settings and rest assured that it works stably with Mac and PC. It definitely has a nice display if you don't mind a fight, but the warranty coverage isn't great and it takes patience to use it. ---------------------------------- ------------------------------ -------------------- ---
