A hit for beginners

Maybe it's my specimen or I'm a bit of a noob but this lens is really good. The important things first; Build quality is excellent, solid metal, the focus and aperture rings are well-damped, the aperture ring is a bit stiffer than the focus but in a way that makes changes more deliberate. The look of the lens completely complements my camera body and gives it a retro look. Image quality is pretty decent, I stop from f2.8 to f4.0 to sharpen the image, but image quality wide open, assuming you can focus on the subject, is still pretty good. This lens is a little tight when attached to or from my camera, but like the aperture ring, it tends to add to the casual feel. I have a problem, it's the focus scale; I really wish it was marked a little more accurately, or had a little more range (which, honestly, is its remarkable amount) to get the focus a little more accurate. There's a bit of vinnetting and some softness in the corners, but you either have to look for it on purpose or do something extreme like taking long exposure photos in low light. Added feature: Going past (and beyond) infinity on the focus bar shifts the focus of the image slightly. An added bonus, a really nice microfiber cloth is included. If you are new to digital photography and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is for you. obtain lens. Once you can focus on what's in your head, you'll love this lens. I pick up a camera with this lens just to feel the focus ring.

Feels like a 1960s Pentax Takumar; is surprisingly good for infrared
