Nice picture - Limitations for MacBook users - Updated

Updated Review 8/10/20 Support did a great job of solving the issue described in my original review below. They were aware of the problems with the Macbook client application and provided me with new software that hadn't been released yet. He solved the main problems. Presumably they will make it available soon. The software is a little less intuitive than the Windows version, and the playback needs improvement - there's no backtracking and it's difficult to spot individual events when they're grouped together. I have raised my rating from three to four stars. I wish I could give them 5 stars, but the 20 fps max frame rate is holding me back. Moving objects cannot be clearly detected at night. There are fewer problems during the day, but still noticeable compared to 30 frames per second. I'm aware there might be bandwidth issues with remote viewing, but an option for higher speeds should be available. If they can increase fps it will easily be 5 stars. product.Orig Review: This is mainly for those (like me) using a MacBook product for remote viewing. If you have a Windows operating system, you should be fine. It seems to work well on both iPhone and iPad. Reolink 4K delivers superbly sharp images with greatly reduced pixelation when zoomed in from a distance. The maximum frame rate is 20 fps, which can make moving objects appear quite jerky depending on the speed. night vision is good. I love that the NVR is relatively quiet compared to my last one and the Reolink app makes it easy to install on a PC, phone or tablet. It works great with Windows-based PCs, but they seem to have given the Mac a cheap version of the software that severely limits functionality. For example, the Mac app doesn't have a digital zoom feature, meaning you can't zoom. while browsing if you don't have a PTZ camera. Remote playback is just play, stop, and pause, and there's no speed control to adjust how slow or fast you want to watch the video. This makes it difficult to identify and analyze events. The timeline cannot be expanded to make it easier to select individual events. Also, you can't select "manual" recording with a Mac. So if you see something you want to capture, you have to hope the motion sensor activates that. As mentioned, these weren't issues with Windows PCs or iPads, which had full functionality. The Mac application software is incomplete in key areas and defeats the purpose of convenient remote event viewing and playback. I didn't have any of these issues with Reolink software on my Windows PC or my previous system. My Mac is my computer I go to all the time and I'm disappointed that I got scammed. Deleted and reloaded app three times. I contacted Reolink support but still no solution. As far as I can tell, their app just wasn't designed specifically for the MacBook. If they can fix it I'll be happy to raise the rating. Will be updated when something changes.
