Much better than expected

I was very skeptical even when I ordered this product compared to other similar products available now or to come (of which there are not many). Overall design and construction concept: 4 stars. The overall concept is actually well thought out. I'll admit that the plastic back panel that the magnets are attached to feels a little flimsy. But it does the job, and one could argue that it's for weight loss. One star off for a cheap feel. Steel discs and magnets may seem like a joke, but they actually work better than expected for a number of reasons. The two trio weigh as much as the laptop itself, and putting that much weight on the laptop's display case will either damage the hinges later or cause the laptop to backflip. The magnets attach to the discs but have some wiggle room so they slide onto the table surface and transfer the trio's weight to the table rather than the laptop screen. The clearance between the magnet and discs allows you to tilt the laptop further back for a better viewing angle and keeps the trio's weight on the tabletop. Many similar product solutions, e.g. B. hanging portable monitors on the edge of a laptop screen puts a lot of stress on the hinge. I bet your viewing angle will be very limited, almost 90 degrees vertically. Tilt the screen back and most of the laptop's hinges cannot support the weight of two additional screens. ** I have a windows laptop and attached a thin custom cut polycarbonate sheet to fit my laptop and used velcro. to attach a polycarbonate sheet to the back of a laptop screen. Velcro stickers are much easier to remove on the go than metal discs without scratching them. I highly recommend Macbook users to use a hard case. *** Connectivity: I wish it had a mini HDMI like other portable monitors do. The USB-C input is fine, smooth. However, using the USB-A input makes it slow, much like Remote Desktop or the Duet app on the iPad (because it uses the same DisplayLink technology over USB-A). My laptop only has a USB-C so I have to live with a slow screen on one side. That's normal with static screens, but the lag is noticeable when playing videos and forgetting games with a USB-A connection. Additional Notes: When connecting two 14-inch trios to a 15-inch laptop, the width of a triple-monitor setup when folded is similar to a 43-inch monitor, and wider when unfolded. You cannot pull out both monitors in most coffee shops or public places. One device should be enough for most users. It's easier too. If you decide to buy two trios, make sure you have two USB-C ports, or prepare to live with latency on one of them.

Pros
  • 14 x 9.5 x 0.5 inches
Cons
  • The monitor takes too long to turn on.
