Review on 🔪 Efficient and Durable: Update International LMS-PP Stainless Steel Luncheon Meat Slicer by Barbara Simmons

Great little cut for soft foods!

After reading some reviews I didn't want to buy this slicer. Now I'm glad I did. Usage: I use this daily for slicing Spam and Velveeta cheese. Durability: The flashlight and cords feel solid. However, since the wires are very thin, they can easily be bent or broken if you try to cut hard foods or press too hard too quickly. The base also seems durable and easy to clean. It is not made of durable plastic and should therefore be handled with care. Not "carefully”, but "with care”. Cleaning: I use a new, clean brush (about 2 inches) with nylon bristles to brush leftovers from the slicer into the bin. I then soak the plane in a sink filled with dish soap for a few minutes. After that I wash the planer with a dish sponge, rinse it and put it in a basket to dry. Additional Comments: When I first got this slicer I was very careful with it. The more I used it, the easier it became. I've found that I can apply strong, steady pressure while cutting and it cuts quickly and evenly. (I don't advise "clap" food cutters). When slicing spam: the spam jar does not fit end-to-end in the slicer base. If you center the spam block on the base of the slicer, only 8 wires out of 10 are actually cut. The 1st and 10th wires run along the outside edges of the spam block, giving you 9 spam fragments. Both ends are slightly thinner than the other discs. However, if you push the spam block all the way to one side or the other of the slicer base, the 9th and 10th wires won't cut, but the other wires will cut all 9 slices much more evenly. When slicing Velveeta: I buy Velveeta cheese in 3.2-pound blocks. Each block is approximately 2.5 inches square and approximately 8 inches long. First I cool down the block I want to cut. I do this because Velveeta is naturally soft and the refrigeration helps make it tougher so it doesn't go bad when I cut it. Then I take the Velveeta block and place it on the cutting base. I use a kitchen knife to cut the block right at the opposite end of the planer base. Then I cut the Velveeta block along the notch and remove the foil wrapping. This block fits into the base of the slicer so every 10 wires will cut 11 even slices of cheese. Now: I can make cold spam cheese sandwiches, grilled spam cheese sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, fried spam for breakfast, single serve macaroni. & cheese, or whatever else I can think of.
