I have no doubt I LOVE Spam for breakfast, lunch or anytime in the cabin BUT I limit myself to 1 slice only for Breakfast. Rotating the Spam 90 degrees gives me 11 evenly sliced slices, each about 65.5 calories. 11/24/2013 I had to order another one, but it was only enough for four slices. I love this slicer! I ordered it and a few weeks later I seriously fractured the shoulder on my dominant arm. I couldn't shop at a premium pantry, and spam was my main source of protein. This slicer does a great job, I cut with short sides on the ends and I ended up with 11 slices. I had no problems with this, I cut the spam right out of the cupboard then put it on a plate and keep it in the fridge. I think the wires might be affected if cut after the glass has cooled. This item does exactly what you expect - it cuts spam into perfect chunks. I read the negative reviews before buying and realized people were probably very rude about it. I press gently and take my time cutting spam. I do this so I don't put too much pressure on the wires. When I wash it, I put it on the top shelf very carefully. After reading some reviews I didn't want to buy this slicer. Now I'm glad I did. Usage: I use this daily for slicing Spam and Velveeta cheese. Durability: The flashlight and cords feel solid. However, since the wires are very thin, they can easily be bent or broken if you try to cut hard foods or press too hard too quickly. The base also seems durable and easy to clean.
