The battery came with a zero percent charge! Returning it!Sometimes, a Li-ion cell can be recharged after it had experienced 0V, but it will have a lower capacity and shorter life. Most of the time, when a Li-ion cell is down to 0V, several things happen:Some of the copper current collector dissolves, and then plates out on some of the electrode surfaces. If severe, it could cause shorts within the cell. This also reduces intercalation (capacity). Some of the ions in the electrolyte from decomposition will form a film at the anode to increase internal resistance and reduce intercalation.During over discharging, the change in morphology of the Li-ion components leads to capacity degradation. While the BMS or voltage protectors limit over-charging and over-discharging, the cell will continue to self-discharge down to 0V, in time; which will degrade the cell or end its life.
