I especially like the textured finish. The device is easier to hang. At the moment it seems very stable in an upright position on a table or lap. This doesn't add weight or thickness to the iPad mini, but it does appear to provide better protection from accidents. You can buy cases with stronger drop protection etc. but they also add weight. So I had to decide what was important to me. I knew I needed more protection than the previous full-size iPad case. But I picked the ipad mini for its smaller size and lighter weight to fit better in my small hands and a regular sized purse. I didn't want to spoil this benefit by buying a heavy but sturdy case. This cover seemed like a reasonable compromise. It has pretty good protective qualities that passed military tests, but it's not too bulky and heavy. There isn't a huge range of "trendy" or wild colors, but I don't care. The iPad is expensive, but security and ease of use are more important. At least in my world.
