Comfortable but not for very cold weather

I am going to the UK and Iceland next week and bought these along with 2 other pairs of cold weather leggings to try on. For reference, I live in Hawaii and although we have a winter season, it is very mild (having lived in New York before, I've had really cold winters). It was colder this winter and I tested my leggings. on cold nights. Well I wasn't expecting these to be the warmest leggings I've bought as a pair is merino wool but they definitely won't cut it for Iceland. You have to put something else over them, but they are very comfortable. The high waist helps keep them elevated. For someone who doesn't have the hips to hold on to leggings, I've always had trouble with leggings having to slip and bounce and pull. I went up my usual size because I have very muscular legs and was afraid they would be too tight in the calves. I could probably wear my normal size M as these leggings are very stretchy. The length is long but that is not a problem as they are tucked into boots. The logo placement is a bit awkward (just below the knee), but it doesn't bother. In addition, the texture is smooth and does not attract lint. Overall I like these leggings for the comfort. I only gave it three stars because of the heat factor. Even sitting outside on a cool Hawaiian night (currently just under 70F) my feet are still cold. I could probably feel good wearing them in 40/50F with a jacket and still be warm. Update: I wore these leggings the most during my trip to the UK and Iceland as they proved to be the most comfortable and held in place the best. My wool leggings were warmer but with pilling and no gusset so not as comfortable. Overall, I didn't feel much of a difference between my $100 wool leggings, $30 cheap fleece, and these $60 UAs. I would say the UA leggings were the best investment out of the three. I noticed on the sides of the thighs and buttocks that the fabric started to fray and fray. I don't know how it happened as I was usually wrapped up in my padded parka.

Pros
  • Compression: Ultra-snug, comfortable fit.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
