Review on πŸ”₯ 2-in-1 Natural Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector: Reliable Plug-in Co Detector for Kitchen/Home, UL2034 Certified by Chris Bhatia

It works just wish it was louder

This is a good compact carbon monoxide and combustible gas detector. Bought for installation in the kitchen, mainly to detect propane gas leaks on the stove. Some of the other reviews said this unit does not detect propane, so the first thing I tested was a calibrated gas detector that reads propane in parts per million. This alarm was triggered when another meter read about 4000ppm. (This wasn't a very accurate test as I simply pointed an unlit propane lamp at six feet nearby.) The lower explosive limit of propane - the lowest concentration at which an explosion is possible - is 2.1%. , or 21,000 ppm, so this is alarming well below the danger point. Note that 4000 ppm smells *a lot* of gas; Other reviewers probably just didn't get a high enough concentration to set off the alarm. The voice alarm comes in handy as it lets you know if the alarm is due to carbon monoxide or gas. I deducted a star because the alarm clock itself isn't very loud - it will certainly get your attention if you're in the same room or a nearby one, but it probably won't wake you up unless you're sleeping nearby. . For example, it's not as loud as typical smoke alarms or CO/gas alarms from another brand that I've also purchased.

  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Good but not great
