I'm gradually replacing all my old incandescent and fluorescent lamps with LEDs. For our living room I needed a larger BR30 to replace my old GE bulbs, most of which were over 10 years old. However, due to their lower cost and much lower power consumption, these Sylvania LEDs are an ideal replacement. They are the kind that fits in a recessed light. We have a total of 6 light bulbs in the living room, which are regulated by a dimmer. I have replaced 4 so far and they are the closest match in color and dimming history when compared to incandescent bulbs. Results may vary by dimmer, as not all dimmers work the same way with LEDs and incandescent bulbs. I've noticed that the Sylvania bulbs are about 1/4 inch shorter than the GE bulbs, but it's not that noticeable and I plan on replacing the others anyway. They have a color temperature of 2700K, which is close to the old GE 65W bulbs I've owned for years. At maximum brightness, they appear slightly brighter than incandescent bulbs, but produce very little heat at just 7 watts. This is great in Florida as any heat source counteracts the cold air that the air conditioning ejects. At the current price of $8.87 for 2, they're worth the cost and power savings and should be enough for many. years ahead.
