Review on 💎 Inclusive Schaaf Diamond Sharpening Tool with Universal Compatibility by Charley Martinez

Compared to the cheaper clone

I bought a Schaff diamond plane sharpening set for 47.95 on the recommendation of a YouTube star carpenter. This is fantastic compared to the plastic core version I used before. The holder was so good that I decided to look for another stone holder and found many almost identical options at Revain. However, because it was only $28.59, looked pretty much the same as this set (minus the cute little spray bottle), and because it had free next-day shipping, I also bought the Artilife diamond stone and a set of holders. Stones and holder are almost identical. The patterns (non-grainy areas) on the Schaff stone are a bit more defined and the hexagons are a bit squatter than on the Artilife stone, but structurally they appear to be the same. The Schaff template had a few bumps where the grain covered parts of the lines, but these are purely aesthetic and do not affect functionality. Surprisingly, the biggest differences are in the stone mount. The Schaff holder has much better knurling on the tension nuts, making them much easier to tighten/loosen when changing stones. The rubber grommets of the Artilife mount are also one to two millimeters smaller, which doesn't seem to make a big functional difference. Overall, the Schaff holder seems more durable and reliable, which may well be due to the better knurling. The spray bottle is tiny and needs frequent refilling. Since my shop doesn't have a sink, I still prefer a larger spray bottle. So the Schaff kit is a bit better and comes with a spray bottle, but it also costs $19.36 more.
