I'm not a professional but I've taken the time to build my own cars. I would give this 5 stars if it had more speed control than just toggling between 5 speeds, maybe doubling it to 10 or at least a few more steps. This makes the 4 digit reading almost an unnecessary gimmick, a single digit from 1 to 5 would work just as well. I would say the preset speeds have good gradations. My other minor disappointment is that it doesn't use 'standard' skid plates so you're limited to the 5' or 6' provided for that, but I'm sure you still wouldn't or couldn't on long trips use a smaller pad. All I used was the 5 inch polisher it came with and it worked fine. In any case, I use a different polisher to get into hard-to-reach areas, with a smaller nozzle so I don't have to switch back and forth. Performance wise it's an easy grip with little vibration and plenty of power compared to others I've used and it's really nice that you don't have to hold the trigger. The controls are in a good place and easy to use. I wear noise canceling headphones when polishing, so I can't comment on the noise level. The results are great and the long stroke definitely saves time. I recommend it for a mid-range machine. Not sure how it will hold up in a pro but the quality looks pretty good and I believe it should last for my home use, at least I hope so.
