I took this camera out of the box and gave it to my little one. She is 2.5 years old and I just wanted to see how well she understands what she is doing without help. It only took her 5 seconds to take the picture and another 30 to figure out how to eject the small disc. Realizing that she could replace the cartridge, that was all she did for another 10 minutes at a time. She finally figured out how to switch it from day mode to night mode. It should be noted that apart from the movement of the dial and the camera talking to you, nothing else is affected by the actual mode change. The only real effect you can have on camera is the wheel on the side. This wheel changes the color of the camera sight. While my little one could move the wheel it was fun. I tried to show her how to hold the camera to her face and look through the little peephole, but she basically just held the camera to her whole face. So while this is a feature older kids will love, it's likely to be lost on a younger toddler. The cartridges have two sides, which gives them endless possibilities. After playing with it for about 20 minutes, she managed to drop it off my bed onto our tile floor. The fall was about 3 feet and didn't seem to affect him. While I wouldn't recommend dropping it, it handles small drops quite well. The only thing I would like to change is that I would like the cartridges to be more organized. Sort of like a camera bag. It's also a great toy with two volume options so it doesn't get too loud on any setting. Very satisfied and highly recommended.
