This remote requires me to be close enough to the TV to point directly at the sensor. I checked the batteries that came with the remote and they were fine. In the end, I decided I had nothing to lose by doing something that would void any warranty. I thought maybe they used some cheaper plastic on the red plastic shield covering the LED. I took a knife and thrust it out. I found the LED too deep inside. It had no lateral radiation because it was covered with black plastic. I cut off a few pieces of black plastic and left out the red plastic LED screen. Now it works just as well as the one that came with my TV. I looked at all the positive reviews and thought about it. Perhaps the manufacturer switched to cheaper red plastic to save half a cent per remote. I do not know. You can use this, but be prepared to use a pocket knife to rip out the red screen and throw it away.
