To install or replace the battery: The cover has 2 small tabs that fit into the open groove and hook onto the rim with a very small turn, less than 1/8th. GENTLY turn the cap counterclockwise 1/4 turn (a very small turn, less than 1/8), then tap the remote against your hand until the cap pops out, or use a thin screwdriver to gently pry it up. If you try to unscrew it all the way, you can damage the plastic. When attaching the cover, reinsert the battery. Holding it, place the tab on the cap in the hole, then GENTLY turn the cap clockwise 1/4 turn (very small turn, less than 1/8). It doesn't feel like it's secured, but check by turning it upside down to see if the lid stays in place. Once the battery was in place, the remote worked fine. Bought 2 more!
