But I discovered the secret! Use a coin or butter knife to GENTLY turn the lid until it clicks into place (very small turn), then tap the remote on the table until the lid pops out. If you try to unscrew it all the way, you can damage the plastic.

I bought this remote as a spare for our BOSE Solo 5 soundbar. Setup is identical to the original remote, unlike replacement parts available on the BOSE website that don't have the bass function buttons, Bluetooth, or speech. Despite many bad reviews, this product works as advertised. Slightly larger than the original, so fits better in the palm of your hand. The buttons are responsive and the haptic feedback is better than the original. The controller integrates without any problems, all functions work. A worthy replacement for the original equipment. Great value compared to what Bose wants for one of their replacement OEM controllers. There were no problems inserting the battery or closing the battery compartment.
