We replaced the same 15 year old kitchen toaster with 2 slices after the lever broke. I was happy to find the same model only newer and at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, the updated model is not that good. The easiest toast setting (around 1) will burn the bread! And there's no time setting, so you just start smelling the burnt toast. The bagel setting needs to be around 4 to warm up the bread, but then the top of the bagel will burn. Finally, the outside of the toaster also heats up. Ours reclines a bit so it's not a big problem but I would be concerned if we had small children using the toaster or had to pull the toaster out mid-use.
