Review on 🦸 Superhero UE Boom – Wireless Bluetooth Speaker by Donald Phillips

This speaker is amazing! This speaker is truly a marvel of engineering. The tone it emits is crisp and clear, and it's very versatile. When I first bought it over a year ago I was a bit disappointed with the speaker's bass but otherwise the mids and highs were crisp and clear. In the past few months they've released an updated version of their app (more to come) that had an equalizer preset to boost the bass, and it actually adds quite a bit of bass. Granted, the Bose Soundlink Mini delivers louder/bigger bass, but the highs and mids don't quite live up to this speaker. In the app you can choose from 4 preset equalizer settings or customize your own equalizer settings. It also allows you to sync a second BOOM and then choose to have one as the left stereo speaker and the other as the right. Alternatively, you can set each speaker to output both L/R channels. This speaker outperforms the competition for several other reasons: at friends, at work or at home. Heck, who doesn't have an extra micro-USB cable laying around? Second, the speaker is waterproof (but not waterproof!). This is very useful if you want to use it in the pool, in the bathroom, under a hot/steam shower or if you live in a humid environment. Third, it is very durable. I dropped the speaker a few times and he took it like a champ. The design is just amazing. Fourth, pressing the volume + and - buttons shows the remaining battery life, i.e. "40% charge". I can easily get over 12 hours of playback on a full charge. Fifth, the latest software updates (which can be downloaded by connecting the BOOM to a computer) have fixed previous problems with distortion at high volumes. Now you can crank the volume up to max or near max without distortion or shrill sound. Finding the right volume is also easier now, as a recent update has changed the original 16-level volume system to 32. By that I mean there are 32 volume levels from 0% to 100% volume, while the speaker still offers 16 , so the app must use to get 32 steps. Sixth, the speaker can be used to make/take calls with its own speaker and microphone. This is useful when you're listening to music while receiving a call, and allows you to have a clear and effortless conversation without fiddling with your phone's speaker. My only advice here is to be close to the speaker (within 10-15 feet I'd say) since the speaker's mic is what you're using, not your phone. Seventh, the sound has almost 360 degrees, meaning it easily fills a room, allowing you to place the speaker in the middle of the room. This is because the speaker is round and differs from the traditional front panel design of many competitors including Jambox, Bose etc. Eighth: Place the speaker in a corner (e.g. on a kitchen counter at a 90 degree angle to the wall). provides an even louder sound stage. Try it! Finally, there is a hook on the bottom of the speaker that allows you to hang the speaker on a hook/carabiner. I used it to attach the speaker to my backpack with a carabiner when hiking. Overall, this is a GREAT product that never only amazes me, but everyone who sees and hears it. Many people who witnessed and experienced its superiority actually bought it for themselves. Try it - you won't be disappointed!
