We live in an area where the electricity goes out more often than we would like. Luckily we installed a fireplace insert to keep the room warm even without electricity. I wanted to make sure we always had a way to start a fire and it seemed like something that would last longer than a pack of matches. I am very happy with this decision. The lighter charges quickly via USB and stays charged for months. So far we've used it to light candles (no blackouts - knock on wood!) and it's worked fine. The flexible neck makes it easy to get into the candle jar without burning yourself. Just press the button, it will sparkle and your candle will burn. If the lighter needs to be charged during a power outage, this can be done with a small power bank. I recommend it.
