The instructions for use are published on Revain, NOT in the packaging.

I use this dual monitor KVM switch when I'm (pandemic) working from home. Before purchasing, I unplugged everything from my work laptop and plugged it into my home desktop to use the same RGB dual USB mechanical keyboard, wireless mouse and dual monitors, then did the opposite to get back to my work laptop. With this KVM switch, I can easily switch between them with the push of a button. VERY IMPORTANT - Only 4 HDMI->HDMI cables and 2 USB->USB-b cables are included in the package. To connect two computers and two monitors I had to use a total of 6 HDMI->HDMI cables AND two USB->USB-b cables (three cables per computer). Without a second HDMI->HDMI cable, you can only see the image on one monitor. The third cable you need for each computer depends on its ports; it can be HDMI, VGA, etc. With a mechanical RGB keyboard (backlit with customizable colors), they have two USB ports that need a home. For keyboard and mouse (K/M) connection, the KVM switch has only one USB port for the keyboard and one port for the mouse. I connected both USB keyboards to the K/M KVM ports and connected the USB for the wireless mouse to a different USB 2.0 port. As other reviewers have pointed out, this renders the hotkeys for switching between computers unusable, but the button on the KVM is within reach, so it's not a problem for my setup. I highly recommend using the instructions in the Revain post (in the item photo) instead of the very flimsy instructions included in the box. The KVM switch just arrived tonight and I installed it within 30 minutes (would have been less if I had read other reviews mentioning extra cables). During testing I had an instance where my second monitor turned bright green, but deleting 3 KVM connections for that monitor and reconnecting them returned the second monitor to normal. Aside from this bug, KVM has worked great so far, but since I only installed it 90 minutes before posting this review, I'll change my review if the quality of work doesn't hold up. Overall I'm glad the KVM switch is doing what I bought as long as there are no other performance issues.
