Review on πŸ’ͺ ColdTi: Enhanced Cryptocurrency Seed Storage for Optimal Security and Convenience by Josh Kim

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value compared to any other cryptocurrency seed vault

This is a recovery seed vault. Follow directions with a 3 to 5 pound steel mallet, not a carpenter's hammer. Hit once very hard and you'll get nice, deep writing. Do not hit it gently several times. The beat will move. Make sure you place it in the right spot in the right orientation, then give it a good punch. Do not purchase CryptoSteel Seed Storage or any other Steel Seed Storage product. Steel corrodes more easily than titanium, even stainless steel, and titanium has a higher melting point (depending on the alloy). But more importantly, CryptoSteel doesn't offer permanent seed storage as it consists of multiple parts that you have to assemble and repair. space with screws. If it gets damaged/crushed and falls apart, or if it accidentally pops open and the letters fall out, you're screwed! You just mixed your seed. Good luck with the words! The only good way to use the metal seed vault is to use a hammer and letter punch to pierce the letters on the titanium plate. Acid pickling is not good enough. What if your house burns down? Soot or other residue can hide etches. They might be able to clean it up and make it readable again, but I wouldn't count on that. I would just use a perforator to stamp the seed onto the titanium sheet. Keep in mind that CryptoSteel is about 6x more expensive than ColdTI and doesn't offer adequate protection against edge cases like the ones I mentioned. Buy smart!
