Review on ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Ultimate Eye Protection for Outdoor Adventurers: Julbo Colorado Glacier Sunglasses by Dave Hock

Great mountaineering goggles

This year, early in the season in the mountains, we started climbing more, on mixed snow and rock. With the sun over 10,000 feet high and the reflective snow, it's torture for my eyes. Up to this point I had only worn 'regular' sunglasses, but I realized I needed something stronger. I got them because of the Spectron 4 lens and I'm very happy with it. They are definitely darker than regular sunglasses and everything is very clear when I wear them. It seems to remove a lot of glare even though they aren't polarized. In fact, you shouldn't wear polarized goggles when climbing snowy slopes as they can block glare from ice, which is a must when climbing steep snow! Plus, the flexible earcups are comfortable for a custom fit, which is important when you don't want to fiddle with your goggles on a 60-degree snow slope! Finally, they are very light and do not bother me at all if I wear them all day. Just a note: Julbo states that they cannot be used for driving, but I don't see any driving problems. In fact, I feel a great deal of relief in the late afternoon riding in them. Your eyes will adjust to its darkness and it's much safer than being blinded by the scorching sun. The only minor issue is that the removable side windows hit my face on the left side. I think it's because I'm not a perfect person (just ask my girlfriend haha!) and my nose doesn't sit perfectly on my temples. Just something to be aware of, rubbing them against your face can cause irritation. Also, I think they're made for people with big heads because they look HUGE on my face. The coverage is still good but they don't look particularly "cool" when I'm posing for photos lol! Overall I am very satisfied with the functionality of the glasses, they are very good for the price. They may not be the most stylish of glasses, but I'm much more concerned with how they work and that's what they excel at. UPDATE 14.10. don't like how big they are. They're still fine, but I'll only use them at work when I'm out in the field all day. Tensing is actually a lot lighter than these and feels more comfortable on my face. I would only recommend them to people with a HUGE head.
