Doesn't really charge

I bought a Garmin Instinct watch in late 2019 and the cables don't really charge it. It worked once when I wasn't touching it, once it was in the perfectly correct position, balanced by a pair of erasers. Now I plug it in and it just tells me "low battery" no matter what position it is in and no matter if the battery is low. This problem does not exist with the factory cable.
