These lights are very comfortable and bright, that's true. Compared to the branded snap-on version, they appear to be twice as bright and half the price. But the devil is in the details. When viewed from the side, the snap-on versions project the light forward and you can bring your face/head closer to the light without being blinded. This is useful, for example, when working under a car or under a dashboard when you cannot shine the light behind you over your shoulder. The snap-on version has a rectangular lens that reflects the light and doesn't flood it at all. The Maxxeon version lets in as much light on the sides as it does on the front. This light is difficult to use on the car floor, under the dash or under the hood if you can't get the light behind you. The solution is a small masking tape sun visor. No more blind eyes and a happy mechanic! ***This rating may not matter as Snap-On discontinued their branded versions of this flashlight a few years ago***
