Review on 🧳 Sulky 12x12 Iron-On Tear-Away Stabilizer Roll: Perfectly Stable Crafting Companion! by Amber Perez

Used for applique and stretchy fabrics - great stabilizer!

I bought this to help sew appliques on stretch fabric. Before using the stabilizer, the stretchy fabric would twist and move and not stay where I wanted it to be. I tried fabric glue with disastrous results. When it arrived I decided to try a small application as a test. I ironed some of these onto the wrong side of my blue fabric and the right side of my silver fabric. I cut out a diamond from the silver fabric and then sewed it onto the blue fabric. Voila! I have an application! I then went over to my original design and drew on paper, then cut out the design and added the sewing lines. (Great idea! ) I sewed the two pieces together and had nice straight lines on my appliqué and no marks on the fabric itself after the stabilizer came loose. I had to use tweezers to get some of the stabilizer out of the filaments. after tearing it off the finished product, but it was worth it that this stabilizer keeps the fabric in place. I also used some stabilizer strips (pieces I had already torn off) over the fabric but didn't iron as I sewed so the stretch was fed evenly into my machine. That also worked great. I did this to protect the metallic blue finish on the fabric from being removed by the adhesive used in the ironing process. (My test ironing of the stabilizer on the shiny side of the metallic fabric removed some of the blue.) Once the stabilizer is removed, the fabric leaves no mark.
