Definitely a decent price even if FOB isn't as reliable as OEM. A new OEM from the dealer costs $104 and must be ordered/delivered. I'm not sure if the merchant will charge for the program, I assume so, and I'm assuming $$$. In any case instructions NOT supplied FOB but are on a 3rd party website. They're not useless, but they're sorely lacking in detail. Compliance with this does not activate the functionality of the key fob. After NON-REPEAT attempts I have had no feedback (beeps) that this is progressing. When I gave up, I actually found that whatever modifications he made to the system, he was KILLING part of the battery/electrical system and WILL NOT EVEN START the car or the engine wouldn't start! I spent a lot of time fixing bugs that I knew weren't faulty (cables, fuses). Sorry I even tried and wanted to return the key fob. Ignition key back on/off: I can't prove this with REDO as it works now. BUT I think I "accidentally" found out that ALL places that have instructions for key fob programming (including youtube videos, subaru blogs, subaru parts websites) are "misleading". They all have you put the key in the ignition (plus other prep steps) and then tell you to turn the key. PROBLEM: When you insert the key, it is in the LOCK/OFF position. The instruction to quickly scroll it BACK to the OFF position at least 10 times doesn't work! However, when I switched it from the original LOCK/OFF position to the ON position and then ONLY back to the ACC position, I suddenly (once) heard a beep. Driver door opened/closed, key button pressed and 2 beeps heard. I pulled the key out of the ignition and heard 3 beeps. I waited and the car started immediately. Key fob lock/unlock buttons now work. It seems like a small oversight (hint?) but it was the difference between implementing and returning the keychain to Revane. So unnecessary. I am a detail oriented woman. Very disappointing lack of 'details' on all of these attractions.
