Sensor doesn't recognize my dog's touch

I love everything about this product EXCEPT ONE VERY IMPORTANT ONE. The sensor does not recognize the touch of my dogs. Trying to teach her that is very difficult because she can't make the doorbell ring! She tries everything! She will touch him, lick him, bite him, even fondle him, and the doorbell won't ring 5/10 times. I wanted to touch it to try ringing the doorbell and found I had to touch it under the bone and with at least three fingers. 1 or 2 fingers are not enough for the sensor. That means I have to buy another one and return this one.
